Freelance Guidelines

Writers:

Off the Grind is published monthly, so our content changes with the seasons.  If you would like to submit an article about winter, please do so in the early fall.  For the summer, submit something in early spring.  We try to be a few months out in our editorial calendar, so think ahead.  That said, we do go for timely articles on breaking news that effects our audience.  Please check back to this page often to see our updated editorial calendar and our content needs.

Articles should be short, in the 500 to 1000 words range.  If you have photos to accompany the words, even better, so remember to pack the point and shoot on all your adventures.  Please submit words for review to: editor@offthegrind.com

Summer 2008:
May is a river issue.
June is mountain bike and rock climbing issue.
July is a National Park issue.
August is a lake issue.

 

Photographers: 

Reading is over-rated: More images, less words, we say.  Since we are a monthly, there is a place for images from all seasons.  We want crisp action, in depth lifestyle and beautiful scenery from the Northern Rockies.  Our covers are printed on 50# brite white paper and the guts are 38# paper, this means we offer the best print quality of any newsprint magazine in the region.  We want color images at high resolution only.  We don't do film, please submit all images for review via email to: ross@offthegrind.com.  We like regular contributors, so keep Ross's email box full of sample images from your latest adventures.

Multi-media: 

We want your works of creative genius on our Web site.  If you have a knack for making short films and documentaries, please submit some ideas and examples to editor@offthegrind.com.  We have a place for regular contributors, so keep the films coming.
